A few words from Kelly, one of our new members.

I’m expected to speak in front of both small and large groups of people often and have always struggled with speech anxiety. Many colleagues and close friends who have seen me struggle with this over the years have recommended Toastmasters, and now I understand why!

I joined in as a guest a Remuera Toastmasters not knowing what to expect, and was blown away with the high calibre, punctuality, and organization of the meeting; the experience, enthusiasm to help, and depth of knowledge of the members involved; the quality of the learning pathways, as well as the encouragement and structured, constructive evaluations I received from the first meeting.

I have consequently signed up and every meeting has been of the same high standard. I’ve learned a lot in a short length of time about speech structure, breaking psychological barriers, and have received invaluable feedback for the different roles I have been given in each meeting.

I consider myself lucky to have joined this group of forever learners and have gained confidence as well as a burning passion to commit to becoming a better, more assertive communicator, which I trust will not only benefit my professional career but also my interpersonal relationships.
